Washington MO
I could go on for days about how much I love this town. I lived there for 2 years. I found myself again in this sweet town. My mom was born in this town, and we still frequent this town monthly! So lets start with, Washington MO is a small town located 30 minutes west of STL off hwy 100. It is tucked away in the rolling hills of Missouri just south-ish of Hermann. Located on the Missouri river it once was a bustling railroad city that was founded by Daniel Boones family. WashMO is also known for its Corncob Pipes and there is a working factory located on the riverfront still to this day! Despite its smaller size (its increasingly growing due to people moving out of the city) WasMO has so much to do!
Here is a list of places to eat that I recommend:
Old Dutch Hotel/Tavern- This place is so cute! They have very quirky hotel rooms you can stay at but also great food with a fun atmosphere
Cowans- Known for their pies but also has delicious breakfast
The Draft Room- Located on the riverfront, has a wide selection of drinks and a beautiful bar. The food and tvs make for a great place to watch the game
Marquardt’s on the Landing- This is my favorite place to go. They have fantastic pizza! They also have a great bar inside and out and a great patio to watch the game or enjoy live music!
Birdies Gluten Free Bakery- This is a MUST if you visit. I suggest the oatmeal cream pies
Oak & Front- GREAT wine and tapas with a great patio
Sugarfire- A well-known STL favorite located on the riverfront with a great patio
Here are some other places I suggest if you are spending the day in town:
Old Bridgeview Brewing- They have delicious, handcrafted beers on tap along with pop up restaurants
The Alley- A fun new arcade spot in downtown
Andys Produce- We go here often for fresh produce and plants
Main Street Creamery- THE place to go for ice cream creations
Undergrounds Espresso Bar- My favorite coffee spot that has coffee flights… yes you heard me right
Washington Farmers Market- Saturdays only!
The Hive Salon- I still drive here to get my hair done because it’s THAT GREAT! Go see my girl Cat!!!
Jakes Legacy Resale- The best resale shop(s) around with the BEST owner ever. Jake is fantastic!
The Axe Depot- Axe throwing
Stop off at Caseys on the way home for some pizza and gas!
WashMO holds a very special place in my heart. If you haven’t been I suggest you go for the day. They have a wonderful riverfront with a park and a dock for boats. They always have events going on no matter the season and the have the county fair every August! There are so many little shops downtown with restaurants that will keep you busy all day. I hope y’all take the time to visit one of my favorites in MO!
